Large Flowered Climber, dr, 1958

A classic. Large, velvety, deep red, cupped, double flowers, good for cutting. Recurrent blooms on new and old wood. Strong rose fragrance. Dark green, glossy, leathery foliage.

This one is trained up from the ground to the railing of our deck about eight feet off the ground. Note that the canes get very stiff, and they must be trained while they're still green. Almost always in bloom. I recommend this plant without reservation to anyone seeking a red climber.
