Schematic Drawing

Many people ask me what program I use to draw my schematics. The answer is, I just use a generic graphics program similar to Photoshop. I found that most or all "real CAD" programs produces very utilitarian schematics that were readable but ugly. So I ended up creating the basic set of electronic symbols (including tubes/valves) by hand, and then just cutting and pasting to put together a schematic.

This is pretty primitive, of course, no simple rearrangement of sections, no "rubber banding" of lines, but it has sufficed, and produces a nice looking final product.

I have recently started using the schematic drawing program from Express PCB. Again, I had to create all the oddball symbols (such as tubes/valves) by hand, but the end result looks good, and it it much easier to use (here is an example)
